Files
What is Files
A private, encrypted file workspace built for the documents that go with your books.
Axerity Files is the second product in the platform. Think Dropbox, but with stronger privacy defaults and built to live next to your books.
What it's for
The documents that go along with bookkeeping:
- Receipts you want to attach to expense transactions.
- Customer contracts.
- Vendor invoices.
- Bank and credit card statements.
- Tax filings, signed agreements, board minutes.
Anything you'd otherwise keep in Dropbox, Google Drive, or a shared folder. Files puts them under the same account as your books, with the privacy guarantees a finance product needs.
What it isn't
- Not a productivity suite. No Google Docs / Notion-style editing. Just storage.
- Not collaboration-first. Real-time editing, comments, etc. aren't the priority. Encryption and audit trail are.
How to get there
Sidebar → Files → Explore. Lives at /files.
Bytes never touch our app server
Files are stored in S3-compatible object storage. Uploads use signed URLs, so the bytes go directly from your browser to S3. Same for downloads. Our app server only handles metadata. See Security for the full picture.
